Just one time every two hundred years

This year, we celebrated the bicentenary of our country, or we think we do, because is very well-known that the proclamation of Independence was on 1818, not 1810 when a group of aristocrat criollos get reunited because of the imprisonment of their King by Napoleon (Fernando VII was captured while Napoleon invade Spain), to swear loyalty to the King and reject the power of Napoleon. So, we celebrate a day that was so far to be a patriotic event, but it doesn’t matter, we can’t avoid that. I think we can take advantage of this illusion and propose new directions and at the same time put in the public discussion, stuffs that we can improve.
First of all, I’d like to say that almost the entire state celebration was very poor, the government didn’t took any advantage of the opportunity, they just make a non-reflexive show that looks very cool and fresh for cameras and tourists, but where was the concern about the conservation of our patrimony? About the improvement of public services? Or even worst, where was the discussion of our civil rights and liberties? Well, the answer is very clear; all this subjects were just rejected because of the major difficulty that they represent in front of the “cultural parties” that the “Concertacion” gave us for the last ten years and obviously the concern of the current government to not discuss anything.
I thought that Bicentenary was the opportunity to re-think our country with all its problems and advantages, to create the instances of development our democracy, to be ACTUALLY democratic not just in the law, but in our relationships with the State, with Parliament, etc. I think that people who think that are majority, or well I want to think that, but I’m sure that if people know the profits to discuss about our politic system, they will be agree with me. Or related to that, we should develop better patrimonial politics, because with the richness in landscapes and architecture in our country is undeniable. So, in order to get things better, we should be more participative, more active like politics subjects that we are (like it or not, we are like that, and nothing can change that).
Juts to finish; I’m really convinced that all this money and excitement could have been focused on the actual improvement of our country, I’m not a patriotic subject but I’d like to improve the conditions where my people is obligated to live, work, eat, have children, etc. And this year I didn’t see anything IMPORTANT by the bicentenary, I didn’t see politics concerned about my country, but I see politics who put their faces every time they could in the tv screen I just see so many people who drink alcohol but never stop to see their past or thought about their own future, in the end, a national day like that is anything but patriotic, is just foolish (people who see themselves been abused or destructed).

Old writer.

Today I have to choose the best blog between my classmates; I don’t like this assignment because in general I don’t like blogs –even mine. But I’ll try to be “objective” with this task.
I think that the most “serious” blog is Bernardita’s one, she take serious her topics and she develops her texts very responsible (I think she’s almost the only one who does it…). Plus, she have almost all the post that teacher have gave us and write –always- more letters than the “obligatory”.
Really, I don’t “like” bernardita’s blog, I’m not her fan, but I think her blog is good, maybe the best between us, but I must insist, is not my preferred one. I like that she write in a serious way because I don’t do it, she is really practicing her English in the blog, I’ve see her work and she put so much effort to write what she planned before, well that’s the way everyone should work, but as we know nobody act like rules stipulate and normalize about creative process. She write like a sort of “feminist” and Victorian writer, that’s very interesting, because there are a few people who still writing like this.
I don’t have a favorite post but I like the “I’m-a-nineteenth-rebel” sound of her late post, she wrote something very classical between some sort of thought that try to find heroism in the common people, in the very intimate experience of the subject that is characterized, she uphold the idea of transplant the classical heroism to the common-life, that is like make great something as work in a factory or drink beer in an old bar. That dignify the life itself, but always under the tutelage of the old concepts and the grandiloquence of ancient tales about ancient persons who act in a remarkable way.
I think that Bernardita could try with expand her stylistic way to write because she have a very good use of the english language, so she must take that for good and try some other kind of writing, I think that could be very enriching for her.

Felipe Avello my Idol.

It’s hard for me to talk about my “favorite Chilean person” because I really don’t like Chile, but if I have to chose someone, I’d probably said: Felipe Avello, he’s a tv host in “SQP” a show business tv show, he’s also a singer and a comedian.
I think that he’s very important because he gives to show business a fresh speech, I mean he said what he really thinks and for that reason he’s always punished by TV producers and CNTV (an evil force that came from the most conservative side of our society and they censor what they think is “extremely liberal” for us, because we are stupid and we can’t decide what to see and not see). Other thing that I really appreciate of him is that he value our journalists on retirement, like Italo Passalacqua, he’s an elder homosexual who doesn’t have any job and so he have to work in a tv program like SQP. And also he believes in being real on tv, so always gives the chance to people like Ignacio Gutiérrez to confess his homosexuality in open TV, but I don’t know why I never catch the “invitation”.
I think that his work is very good for our TV because let it “naked”, he reveals what TV doesn’t want to show us because is too nasty or even worst, to corrupt (you know, TV is very strange for common people…).
If I could ask him something, probably it would be: “Why you can’t be in a channel for more than one year, without been taked out from the screen? I think that TV is scared about you and they are afraid of been exposed…”
This thing can sound a joke, well it is, but my last words are real, TV is always scared of been exposed.

Scott Pilgrim

Today I want to talk about a film that I saw recently in an illegal way (because isn’t released in Chile, yet), the movie is “Scott Pilgrim vs The World”, this is a comedy film based on the comic “Scott Pilgrim” by Brian Lee O’Malley, I didn’t read it, but I had a good time sawing the movie.
The movie is about a guy (Michael Cera, he’s fun) who knows a girl called Ramona (Mary Elizabeth Windstead) and fell in love with her, but to be with her, he must fight with the “The League of Evil Exes”, they are seven exes that join their forces to determinate the loving future of Ramona (this is weird, but is a comic, you can’t wait something very rational), so Scott must defeat this exes one by one, but the fantastic thing is that this fighters have “super powers” and Scott is only a guy from a garage band who have no lucky in love, he’s the incarnation of normality and nerdism (this a word that I invented just now).
Other characters that appear in the movie are the gay friend and Scott’s roommate Wallace (Kieran Culkin), then we have the players of the “Sex Bom-Omb” –Scott’s Band- they are Kim Pine (Alison Pill), Stephen Stills (Mark Webber) and “Young” Neil Nordegraf (Johnny Simmons), and finally Scott’s late ex Knives Chau (Ellen Wong) a schoolgirl who get obsessed with Scott.
Now, the thing that I like about the movie, apart from the plot, I think that the movie works like a real comic and I found that amazing, because when one see a comic-based on movie, always feel like “well, was good, but not so good as the original comic” and that’s because directors doesn’t work like if they were doing a comic, they always adapt the original plot doing a profitable movie, not doing a movie comic-based on, I don’t know if I’m enough clear, because actually, I don’t understand very well what I’m saying now…
In my humble opinion, I couldn’ find anything wrong or week in the movie, but I think that is a movie specially made for people who read comics and enjoy nerd jokes and nerd stories, maybe the movie could be a little exclusive, I can’t imagine my mother or my sister enjoying the movie, but it would be hilarious I think jajaja.
Well, I think this is enough.
-Do you like movies like that?
-Do you read comics?
-Do you like comics adaptations on cinema?
Good bye.

PS: Soundtrack is really awesome!

THE perfect Job

Nowadays, people are unhappy with their jobs because of the abuse from the employer and a bad labour regulation; these matters are so un-developed in our country, that many people feel that they’re just slaves bad-paid. When you have a bad job environment, people who haven’t any commitment with what they do, you obviously will have unhappy workers, people who will do everything discouraged and eventually in a wrong way.
Another reason that I think that make unhappy is that in our society, people think that vocation is a waste of energy, time and mainly money, why? Because all the careers that needs a “high quality” vocation are bad-paid, for example: Teaching is a very ignored profession, but they are the people who “form” the structure of our society, then if we said “oh, Chile is wrong, people is stupid, we’re close to the apocalipsis!”, we should encourage students who wants to chose this career and make the effort of gave more money for their job, at the end is just give them what they deserve for their job.
Well, related to that we have people who study careers that they don’t like, just for obligation with their parents or also for money (like the majority of lawyers and doctors in our country), that people deny themselves the opportunity to improve their natural skills in another area.
Now, if you asked me what job would be perfect for me...? I would say that teaching Art History in an University, but in a well-paid one (jjaja) I said that because I really enjoy this discipline, I enjoy research this stuffs and then show results to other people who are interested in what I’m doing (maybe, this could sound very selfish, now I see that...) and at the end, one could be happy only doing what one enjoy, I said this because people unhappy in their job is basically people who doesn’t like what they do.

Just to finish, if you asked me if I know someone who has this kind of job... I’m not sure if my teachers are well-paid, but I’m sure that they enjoy what they teach to us.
Well, good bye everyone.

PS: I think that work in Porlaputa.com should be AWESOME!

Perfect Day

Hi everyone...
Today i'm going to write about MY perfect day, not Reed's day...
I think that a perfect day for me would be into a beach house with my friends and family, half day for each one (jajaj), but without any idea what to do, just be there and share with them (seeing a movie, listening some music, eating a barbecue or anything delicious). This beach house must be huge and placed very close to the sea, just to take the most of the sea wind, that I really love.

You can ask me... why don't do anything in particular? No plans, no projects, nothing...
This is because for me, pass a good time without any planning is absolutely perfect, just feel the day pass, laugh with other people and maybe eat a chocolate cake with The Beatles and Bowie like background music (i'm a person who believes that life should have a soundtrack ok!)

Maybe i'm a bored person, but i'm being very real for may "perfect day", because if i would play a litle more with my imagination... my perfect day will be entirely different... i wil tell you how would it be...

First of all, Paul McCartney actually PLAY in Chile, wherever he wants to play he could do it and I would be there singing like a mad. Maybe, in this particulary rare perfect day, i would be in some place else, maybe not the beach.... but, hell i don't know if this day is more "free" i would choose any place in the world... too much confusion... i think that would better not chose a place now.

Then, i would pass a quality time (i always wanted to say that jaja) with my family, and in the night i would party with my friends all night long...

Enough!
This post make think too much about stuffs very crazy... now i just can say:

Good Bye.

Vive la France!

Hi everyone,

Today, I’m going to talk about something very superficial, or not… maybe “not so reflexive as the late entry”, mi favorite country to go…

I would like to go to many countries, but if I have to make a choice, undoubtedly I would choose France, why? Because I like it and I love its culture (maybe I’m a Frenchified –I have not a venereal disease). If you asked me for the other countries, I would answer that almost all of them are in europe, so my ambitions are very close…

From them –french- I know that they are just cool (I can’t find other word that descript in a integral way his culture), I like their history, their art, their language (I’m learning, but hell… is very hard!).

If I’m going to there, I would visit every monument and museum as fast as I could, maybe I would miss the whole period of time that I’ve planned… Then I would party a little bit. My first place to go would be the Louvre (obviously!), then the others art museums (because in Paris, they have many “state” museums that house art pieces by his period, so Louvre is the first, then follows the Museum of Orsay and then the Pompidou).

Actually, I’d like to live there, I find that country very good, in every sense, the life style is so much better that here, people is different, habits are also different. They value what I’m studying, and I could have the chance to learn from a better environment, I mean compared with our “artistic” environment. In fact, in Chile students who wants to take the Art History side –of my career, have no post-degrees related to art history, so I have more reasons to choose to live in France (I’m self-convince me); I would have studies, work and good state support (not like Chile!).

Finally, I can only say Good bye.
